Who we are

John Elphinstone

As Senior Producer at Reuters Television, John Elphinstone was responsible for the operational and transmission aspects of the daily news feed and the Reuters Asia Reports (a half hour round up of news items broadcast to Reuters clients worldwide).

Travelling extensively he covered most major international news stories and events from the 1988 Olympics until 2000, when he left Reuters to form White Light Ltd.

In 1998 he was entered for an individual Emmy Award by British Sky Television for documentary work, winning a New York Film and Television Society Award in the same year.

Since then, John has freelanced for many of the world's major broadcasters including the BBC, ITN, CNN, NBC, CBS and ABC. As a studio design and systems integrator he has built studio facilities for clients such as HSBC, Citibank, ABN AMRO, SSB and ING as well as designing the entire signal and equipment streams for Xinhua Financial Television and Five Star TV.

Chris Dobson

Chris Dobson is an experienced print and TV journalist. He is also a long-time producer and media trainer who has worked with high profile organisations in Hong Kong including Macquarie Bank, BT, the Hong Kong Police Force and the ICAC.

In 1990 he joined the South China Morning Post as an investigative reporter. During nearly six years at the SCMP he won five major awards for his work. He later moved to television to cover current affairs for ATV's Inside Story and RTHK's political and media shows, as a writer, producer and presenter.

He has produced a range of promotional, corporate and current affairs programmes including features on the aftermath of the tsunami in Thailand. He directed and was executive producer of a 13-part, 30-minute cooking and travel series with chef Martin Yan, which involved scheduling broadcasts with networks and broadcasting channels.

Chris also produced and presented a weekly 'live' talk show Inside F&B for The Interactive Channel, broadcast on Cable TV and on the Internet. He produces news packages for Channels 7 and 9 in Australia and works with BBC TV and NBC amongst other networks.

Drawing on his extensive career Chris also conducts media training and crisis communications sessions for professionals.
